NASA selects Crabtree + Company Design Special logo will be used to celebrate 50 years of space exploration The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) today named marketing communications firm Crabtree + Company, Inc. (C+C) as the winner of a competition to create a special logo celebrating the agency's 50th Anniversary. C+C's design, which incorporates a recent Hubble Space Telescope image, highlights a galaxy nearly 12 million light years away in the constellation Ursa Major. "We were honored to be asked to submit our designs," said C+C President and founder Lucinda Crabtree, "and deeply gratified that one of our entries was chosen to represent this milestone achievement." On October 1st NASA will kick off year-long celebration of its anniversary, culminating on October 1, 2008. Many of the 120 logos submitted featured NASA's historic achievements, depicting various spacecraft or important events. C+C chose instead to evoke the sense of wonder and excited anticipation that has always characterized our nation's many explorations. "We wanted to create an image that depicted NASA's future — our future — as one filled with promise," said Crabtree, "...and wonder. These first 50 years clearly deserve to be celebrated, but they are only the beginning." C+C will celebrate its own anniversary (its 25th) next April 1st. The firm is a premier marketing communications and firm located in metropolitan Washington, DC. C+C crafts strategic communications solutions for businesses and non-profit organizations, as well as government agencies.
